4 Hot Summer Hairstyles to DIY

Maintain your mane this summer with gorgeous, easy hairstyles that you can create yourself.

The summer heat makes managing your mane more challenging than you’d like. We suffer from frizz, dryness, and poofy hair for three solid months. This summer, steal a runway or celebrity look and you’ll feel more polished than ever—not a strand out of place!

When it’s hot, keeping your hair off of your neck and out of your face (while still looking chic!) is a prime concern. Steal this tight chignon from the Reem Acra Runway Show Fall 2013 Collection.  The pretty twists look sophisticated, and you’ll stay cool! First, the lead hairstylist for the show, Didier Malige, worked René Furterer VEGETAL sculpting gel into the models’ hair to give it hold. Then, simply twist! This is the perfect way to keep hair looking smooth and sleek in the heat.

At the Elizabeth and James Spring 2013 presentation, celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend “perfected the art of imperfection.” The loose, low, tousled pony’s he created are perfect for casual summer days and nights. The way he textures the models’ hair evokes long days lounging at the beach. To re-create this look, start by applying volumizing foam to damp hair and blow dry. Townsend prefers the René Furterer VOLUMEA as it blows out nicely. When hair is dry, part down the middle and wrap the bottom in a bun to set. Spray glossing spray on the top to keep hair matte (great for controlling summer frizz!). Unpin the bun and make a low ponytail, wrapping one strand around the base. Secure with bobby pins. Texturize the ponytail with René Furterer NATURIA dry shampoo and pull a few pieces out in the front to soften the look. Voila! Trendy, easy and practical summer hair.

Braids1

Want to try a fun, sleek updo that’s sure to impress all your friends? This Grecian braided hairstyle, created by Troy Peppin for Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett for the Veet Smooth for Summer Pool Party, is easier than it looks to re-create! To DIY, start by putting sculpting gel into wet hair and blowing dry. Separate hair into four sections. French braid each section and secure the ends with clear hair ties. Then, braid the four tails together, and twist and turn the end into a fun updo! Secure with bobby pins and spray with René Furterer VEGETAL finishing spray. This is the perfect look for keeping hair in place in and out of water. You’ll be the belle of every poolside-ball!
